If you mean converting to a 12 volt alternator, they are pretty much trouble free, generators need repair occasionally. A far as starting, the small engine in your 6 volt Cub should not give you any trouble if you keep your connections clean. Some people convert to be "modern". On a little used tractor you probably won't notice the difference. Actually, I have as much trouble with my little used 12 volt alternator equipped M as I do with my other 6 volt tractors. So it's really maintenance, not volts that count. Up to you.
