Point of Clarification...It seems to me that what we in the South call a bendix, or bendix gear, is the same thing as some of you from the North call a starter drive or starter gear. In that picture BobM posted, I would call the gear with the teethy things a bendix, as would most of my collegues, but WE would know what YOU were talking about if YOU called it the starter drive gear. YOU may not know what WE were talking about if WE called it a bendix, or bendix gear. Just wanted to clear that up. :-)
