Probably just a bent shift fork and the gears aren't meshing fully. If the fork is bent it can be straightened or replaced (straightening's easier). If the fork isn't bent then the gears are worn and will have to be replaced or just don't use road gear (that's the easiest and cheapest fix of all). Phil
