An H in our family had the Big starter push button on the light bar, as yours does. I think it was stock that way (as no one messed with it that I know of. It was 3 years older than me though).
There should be a lozenge shaped electrical box below the light bar on the right side, about 8" tall and 2-1/2 thick with rounded top and bottom. It should have both the light knob, and the push pull ign button, and an amp meter. The shorted switch should not have dammaged anything if it was shorted to ground. If it was shorted to the starter, and the starter ran until the battery was dead, there is cause to check the starter for damage, if it still does not work.
