The size of mower depends on height and thickness of what you are mowing. I pull a 16' batwing with a 560 or about 62 hp. In thick fescue 2' tall clipping to 1' I use 3rd gear.In short bluegrass just clipping weeds I use 4th gear. In road ditchs with tall weeds and grass cutting to 6" I use 1st gear.My MTA would also pull this mower in most conditions but at a slower speed.
