That link can be tightened on the out-put shaft and the end that goes to the tie-rods has a slotted plug when you remove the cotter-pin that can be tightened to remove excess play. The ball shaped ends on the tie-rods mite be worn egg-shaped but the can be re-shaped with a disc-sander. You didnt know the year of the tractor but later ones had a tapered out-put shaft on the steering sector witha half-moon key and early ones the shaft was squared and held on with a bolt. You will have to see which one you have. Both types also have a key on a gear in the steering sector which mite be a source of your play.
