Mark, I have a 1953 Super H, given to me by my Dad. Runs great, I still use it. I had the same problems you are having right now. Try these steps first: 1. Rebuild that generator! 2. Replace voltage regulator! 3. Rebuild that starter! Remember!, everything on your electrical system is 6VOLT! Follow instructions on 6volt regulator hook-up! And remember, this a POS. GROUND system, unless someone before you swichted it over to 12volt(???) 4. Check for bad wires, check the harness,( from regulator to the generator) After all this, and your Volt meter still reads 'discharge',do this: (a) take off cover where your Volt Meter is at ( long oval box )and reverse wires from volt meter-start tractor, run a few minutes, shut down, return wires to original posts. This will recharge the volt reg. I did all these things, was at witts end, old gentleman told me to reverse wires on that volt meter, AND IT WORKED! Somewhere along the way, someone jumped the battery backwords, or they failed to "POLARISE" the voltage regulator. 5. I would also replace: points, condensor, coil, and would not hurt to replace distributor cap, plugs and wires. 6. Positive cable hooks up to ground post on battery--Ground to pos. side of battery. And it is always a good idea to take off pos. cable to battery, if you have to jump start tractor, or just to put charger on for awhile. Failing to do so will, discharge system, and could weld the points inside the voltage regulator, could burn points, condenseor, and even coil. A properally charged system on these pos. ground 6volt Farmall H's, reads only about 4-5 volts on the meter. When I first start mine up, it will 'slap' the meter on the pos. side for only about a minute or two, then settles down to 4-5 volts on the + side. Have any questions, don't fail to e-mail at: bullet1@ntws.net Hope I have been of some help to you, I KNOW how frustrating it can be!

The Day Tractor Lovers Dream About - by Angus Crawford. The day started at five o'clock on the morning of Friday, the January 29, 1999. My father, my sister, my uncle, my cousin and myself all climbed into my uncle's Toyota van. It was six thirty in the morning and we had a long day ahead. We traveled for six and a half hours to our destination - a little country town with a population of no more then one hundred and fifty people (57 of them being children under the age of thirteen). We arrived hoping to meet up with a man we knew had over one
