I have a 460 that I use to feed with and in the winter it dose the same thing. So I cut a piece of barn tin to fit and I cover that side up with the tin in the winter, so the warm air from the radiator and motor keeps the carb warm and have not had any trouble. It may not look real pretty but it works.
