You could almost say that the 330 and 340 were built by the parts department of the factory. The front half used the motor design and front end of a 200 or 240 and the back half was taken from the 300 or 350. The sucessor to the 340 was the 504. The 340 had no parts, except TA and IPTO, from the largest row crop tractors which would be M-SM, 400-450, and 560. It was kinda like the screwy cars that GM built in Canada at that time. They would graft Chevy front ends to Pontiac rear ends. For all I know, they could have done the same thing to Oldsmobiles and Buicks.
