Nope not wires ever go to a mag other then for a kill switch which isn't in any way hooked to the battery wireing in any way shape or form. If you hooked it up to the battery in any way you have probably burned out the mag coil, condenser and points, if not worse and if so then you will/may need to replace the mag.
