not starting on gas is a normal problem with these old IH D's that have been setting around un-used for several years.....most of the time they just need carb & tank cleaned & a tune up - worst case senario is the "gas" valves are stuck , or (less likely) something is wrong or broke in the switch over linkage if the price is right ($2000+/-) and she has nice tin & a good trans./r.end....& the engine is otherwise good (head not cracked , good oil press , no smoke , knocks or "sputtering")- i'd go ahead & get it .....but make sure the engine & drive train are all good -costs 3-4 K for an engine rebuild !.....if it needs much work (other than not gas starting), then you'r better off to spend the extra for one in tip-top shape & ready for "cosmetic" restoration (i have one like that , just hollar if you'd like to "compare")
