My MD had a sleeve that was attached to the gauge mount as I remember. The shaft goes through this sleeve and the keyed arm attached to the end of the shaft right next to this sleeve. I can't remember how the sleeve is attached, but I think just like spot welded to the gauge assembly. Your sleeve must have broken off and left only the hole. On my MD someone had converted it to the throttle linkage like the 400D and 450D have, so I had to find the complete linkage in the salvage yard to get it back to original. I was luck to find one and they even sold it to me cheap at $20 for the whole assembly. Roger
