I think you should have a wire from the small terminal on the solenoid to a key type starter switch. The switch would have a separate terminal that goes to the s terminal on the starter solenoid. The starter would engage the starter drive when you attempt a start. It would have a separate terminal that would feed voltage to your coil. This connection would have voltage there when the key was in on position. I think you're losing your voltage to the coil once you attempt a start. Hal
