Not sure why popular matters, but they certainly weren't as popular as the bigger 856 or smaller 656. There are a lot more of either of those around than 756s. Custom means one hydraulic remote, no fenders, fast hitch instead of 3pt. Anything that could be removed to make the tractor less expensive, was. The gas models are HARD on gas if you use them for any real work. D310 diesels are expensive if they have problems because the injector pump can't be rebuilt. You have to buy a new pump.
