Mine doesn't have that on it. Mine is a 1938. I would love to find a front wheel like yours. My other F-12 has that, but I thought it was some sort of a presure regulator. The 1938 F-12 with the starting problem is a factory gas burner with high alt. pistons, and my other is a 1935 with kerosene attatchment. When you crank mine you can smell gas in the exhaust pipe, so I was thinking maybe I don't have something set right. I usually have the best of luck with the choke full on, throttle half open, and mag lever about 1/4 off full retard.
