OR, I doubt a stock automotive coil would "improve" things much over a stock IHC coil, although it ought to work okay. Similar, even a super coil wont yield all that much improvement (will some and in theory) so long as youre still using mechanical points to switch the coil current. Just make sure if you continue the use of an external ballast resistor the coil you use is EITHER a 6 volt coil or one thats labeled "12 volts for use with an external ballast" If you keep the ballast and used a true full 12 volt (internally ballasted) coil, then the spark would be considerably weaker. Those so called super high voltage coils still fire at the approximate same voltage a stock coil would. The firing voltage is a function of the spark gap distance and the medium (fuel and compression) in which it fires. Just cuz a coil has the capacity and ability to arc current across a wider plug gap or at higher compressions dont mean it does so. The secondary voltage will only rise to a high enough level to arc current across the plug gap. Where those high energy high voltage super coils shine is when coupled to an electronic switch and you run a wider plug gap and discharge more energy (Volts x Amps x Time) Wooooooo Hooooooooooooo. Experimental Tractors Article - by Danny Bowes (Dsl). Tractor technology appears to have nearly hit it's pinnacle of development. If you agreed with the subtitle, you are rather mistaken. Quite, actually. As a matter of fact, some of the technology experimented with over 40 years ago makes today's tractor technology seem absolutely stale by comparison. Experimentation, from the most complex assembly to the most simple and mundane component, is as an integral a part of any farm tractor's development
