I had a Chevy with that 2.5L engine and it would just quit like someone had shutoff the ignition. It would do this when out on the highway at times. It would always restart and then keep on running. I always thought it was a fuel problem and this engine had the TBI (throttle body injection) system. I pulled the fuel line from the filter to throttle body and silver soldered a 1/8 pipe fitting on the gas line. I then connected a nylon line from that fitting to a gauge. The fuel pressure looked normal and I drove it for awhile and it kept stalling. I tried accellerating when on a steep hill and I noticed the fuel dropped way off. Then I knew it was probably in the tank. I pulled the tank and on those cars the fuel pump is in the tank. The sock that covered that pump inlet was cover with rust. A new pump & sock with a tank cleaning fixed the problem. My neighbor was watching when I was doing this and he said I wouldn't change that pump, I said but you're not the one that has to pull that gas tank. That part's store called "The Pep Boys" guarantee's most of their parts for as long as you own the car. You do need to keep your receipts. Hal
