The water outlet housing at the top of the super is bigger to match the radiator inlet. The housings can be swapped.If you are keeping the water pump from the super, leave the thermostat in the outlet. If you don't put the water pump on the new engine be sure to take the thermostat out of the outlet or the thermosiphon cooling won't work.
