B-414 diesel glow plug resistor

Hi guys, I bought a new resistor and and it seems to work fine. It glows red when switch is on. New glow plugs are on the way. My question is; should I install just one to see if voltage is correct or all four at once. Also , will the system work with one good plug, or do you need all four to be good to create a good ground.
