Saw dust, kitty litter, and oil dry are my choices in that order to pick up oily mess, especially under the floor lift. Saw dust is the best, let it lay and it is amazing, sucks the oil and antifreeze right out of the floor. But you asked about stains. I would never try to remove the character of the floor which shows there has been work going on. The patina of an old shop is like the finish on an old antique coin or knife which has had many thousands of hand prints. Why would you clean that? It would be like sweeping the slag out of the blacksmith shop. I spray paint right on the floor too, and enjoy seeing the old jobs wear away through the years. My shop is for work not show.
