This may have changed, but a few years ago I was in a farm meeting and the speaker was the superviser at the now extink Strafford Scales. In MO farm plates on anything used on your farm only. If you haul your neighbors tractor the the shop for repair, even with no charge you best get proof that it is your tractor, not your neighbors. If you own the truck no matter the size you do not need a CDL however if you have a hired hand he must for over #26000, and a Class E for under #26000. Any size truck from MO, with farm plates and doing your farm buisness may go allover the nation. Just for a drive NO. A truck with farm plates may pull an RV any where except MN. As I said this has been a few years and I don't keep up with the farm thing any more, so a lot of it could have been changed. The CDL is nothing more than a National I D and another way to milk truck driver because we are cash cows.
