We've got a 2wd 786, had it since new. It's got around 8000 hrs on it now. It has been very reliable, aside from the typical 86 series shift linkage problems, but I've got that fixed now. The D-358 engine is exellent, it is not quite as powerful as the D-360 used in 766's and early 886's, but the fuel economony is better and the 358 tends to last a little longer. Never run it on a dyno, but I suspect it puts out more than the 80 horsepower it is rated at. A MFWD 786 could be considered to be a rare tractor, as only about 1800 786's were ever built total. I've never driven a 06-86 series IH with MFWD, but from what I've heard, the turning radius is not good.
