Andy: No, you don't need to feel bad about that. I was at a show about 7 years ago, this was a new show at the time, and a lot of very amateur exhibitors showed up, along with one guy the had been professionally restoring tractors for 25 years. Most of his restoration work was farmed out. At that time the pro had 84 completely restored letter series Farmalls. That day he brought a semi load of tractors, amoung them an H with wide front. The tyrods were behind the axle, the front wheels were disc and MF gray, spindles control arms and tyrods were MF 165. The rest was fabricated and I recognized the workmanship. I was the first to argue with him, he swore up and down that his front end was an IH option. It ended with him calling me nasty names. I walked away. During the day, several others chalanged him on his MF front end on an H. Near the end of the day an acquaintence of mine and his son stepped to the H and were quite vocal about this fabricated wide front. I happened to be 4 paces behind the owner and his brother. Finally the brother said to the owner, "I guess we should have brought the narrow front H, these hillbillies up here know their Farmalls." You have a factory IH wide front and it does fit your 400.
