Kelly, One complete rotation of the knob is .025" (25 thousandths). There should be 4 lines on the indicator scale also each line is 0.025". For a 2-3" mic, 0 is 2" to start. Rotate the knob one turn, starting at 0, and you have 2.025", 2 turns is 2.050". If you get to 1 on the scale then it's 2.100" When measuring, the size will be the indicator reading along with some .001" added to the number based on where the knob is turned. For example, you measure a part with a 2-3" mic and the scale on the mic is above line 5 and one smaller line after 5. So far we have 2.500" + .025" for the small line too = 2.525". The line on the knob is at 20 and lines up with the mic scale. Now you need to add .020" to 2.525 and you get 2.545". Some mics have a .0001" scale too. If your mic does, look for lines marked 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0. Whichever line lines up with any line on the knob scale is the correct number. If the 7 line is the best match then the final reading is 2.5457". I hope this helps. Larry
