I was having the same trouble with a farmall H I finally did some pipefitting together to form a trap for sediments and solids. I put a 1/4 inch nipple at the bottom of the tank, screwed on a tee, and then added another nipple, 90, nipple and 1/4 " ball valve on the end. This allows me to quickly flush the system out and provides a way to trap solids or contaminents. off the tee I added on the sediment bowl and connected it to an inline filter and then on to the carb. I had steamed out the gas tank but it still had some problems. This saved me a lot of trouble with the old H. Good Luck
