Squire, a C is not too hard to crank and yes a 2 gauge or even a 4 for that matter would allow the starter motor to work. However, larger battery cables will drop less voltage and waste less energy to heat, but instead allow it to be expended at the starter motor where its needed. The difference is far less noticeable at moderate temperautres, but when shes cold and batery efficieny is greatly reduced PLUS the engine harder to crank (a double whammy), thats when bigger battery cables can allow her to crank faster as theres more voltage at the starter. On bigger tractors that are harder to crank, I prefer 0 or 1 Gauge on 12 volt and 0 or 00 on 6 volt, although smaller will suffice and smaller is also less a problem on smaller tractors such as that C.
