md ??

i have what i think is an md ..it starts on gas then switches to diesel ..it runs like a champ ...i have been told it is a 1955 400 also ....how do i really know what i have here ....also it runs great starts fine no probs except when its in gear it doesnt wanna come out ...u really gotta pull the shifter pretty hard to get it out ...but then it goes right into the next gear with no grinding ..thanx for the help ...obviously i am very very new to this ...vinny
