A couple of weeks ago I bought a old H with a M&W 9 speed tranny. It was in the boneyard and had parts missing. Pretty sad looking tractor. I paid 50 bucks extra for the front end so it would be easier to move, and thought I would junk the engine because it was stuck. When I got it home I pulled the head, and it wasn't that bad. Little flash rust, and maybe water down the pipe one time through #3 cyl. Tomorrow I'm going to try to start it. Honed the sleeves and cleaned up the valves. Put in a new set of rings. The worst job was getting the old oil filter gasket out of the grove in the base of the filter housing. I don't think the old girl has ran for at least 30 years, by the looks of the 1 inch thick dried greese all over the engine. The carbon in the engine was white & tan ceramic from leaded gas. Hard stuff to remove. Glad I had a parts tractor handy. By the way, don't buy asny Tractor Supply Co. sparkplug wires. They are the worse garbage I've come accross in a long time. ken
