i have the motor running nice, idles nice, accelerates and runs nice at high speed ! the problem is the choke has to be 3/4 of the way on to do this. history; when i bought the tractor the carb was laying apart on the bench with a few other carbs, the others being different series and they were whole. i have worked and rebuilt carbs of this sort for 30 some years so its not something i`ve missed. the motor has 85 psi per cylinder compression, leak down test on valves performed and is good, manifold removed and plated and tested for leaks and passed, new gaskets placed on before reinstallation. my question is this could the 2 brass orifices in this carb,or one, be the wrong size seeing as they are replaceable ???? does anyone know what size the holes should be in these orifices. one in the bowl and the other larger one in the top half of carb.?? only thing i can come up with at this point is these are not the original ones.does anyone know someone i could call who would know these sizes or is anyone reading this know what size they are. appreciate any help, this old man only has a few hairs left on the top and this carb. has me stumped. p.s. timing is on and all new plugs, wires, points and condenser.
