Gas caps on a Regular

Tomorrow I will, by hook or by crook, get the cap off of the starting tank for my Regular.
First some background, the cap is not at all like the caps on the letter series tractors, its nearly flat, has no writing on it, and has slight milled edge for grip, like on a quarter.
I haven't been able to get it off by hand, with large channel locks, or a large pipe wrench.
I filled the tank with oil from the other end and sat it upside down for a few months, only to have the oil leak out through the air vent in the cap.
Tommorow I will apply heat to the next of the tank and then try turning, if that doesn't work I will carefully make two bisecting cuts across the top of the cap, quartering it and then remove the pieces.
I'd rather not cut, so if anyone has any ideas, now would be a good time.
Also if anyone knows where I can get a new cap I'd really appreciate it.
