For the 656 Gas tractors there are two different ring gears and starters. The early tractors take the same ring gear as the diesels with 134 teeth. The later gas tractors have 133 teeth. It depends on what parts book you look at on the ring gear that it calls for. The early parts book call for the 134 tooth ring gear for all tractors. The later has a serial number break for the ring gears, And the latest parts manual has the gas ring gear as 133 teeth and the diesel as 134 teeth. In my opinion the 656 parts manual is the porest manual that IH ever wrote.
