Does the same thing happen in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Neutral? If so, you probably have a governor problem. Diesels run at full throttle (i.e. the air intake is wide open) all the time. The "throttle lever" actually controls the governor, which in turn controls the injection pump. The injection pump controls the amount of fuel going into the engine, which controls the engine speed. You can't "adjust" a governor problem. Something is broken, and it needs to be diagnosed and repaired. If not, then your tractor doesn't have enough power to accelerate in 5th gear. This may mean your engine is in need of an overhaul.
