Warmed up oil (single wt or multi vis) gets thinner when hot. Oil in an engine that is working can get to 325deg. or more. If it were mine, I would do two things. I would pull the plugs and squirt one squirt of Autotrans fluid in each cyl from a trigger type oil can. Screw the plugs back in, then crank it without starting it 4/5 revolutions, and then let it sit for 2-4 days letting the ATF soak the rings. It will smoke when started, but if the rings needed freeing up it should help. I would also run 15W40 oil in it. The heavier body of this oil keeps it a bit thicker. Smoke on idling down from road speed is valve guides, smoke from pulling hard is more likely rings, or a combination. No liquid medicine will put metal back where it was when new. Don't expect additives to rebuild the engine. If it is too smoky, a rebuild is the answer. JimN
