Frank, Looking at the parts diagram, it appears the coil is horizantal. I will verify by checking one of my 450 diesels on Monday. The used return pipe I bought for one of my 450 diesels was also leaking at the injection pump end. I put on a new ferrule and nut which pretty much stopped the leak. If the end of your pipe is bad, and you can't find the correct replacement, couldn't you just put on a new end by splicing it? This might have been a common problem on these diesels as the original owner had replaced the return pipe with a flexible hose. I wanted to get it back to original.
