When I was about 12 we "upgraded" our hay raking tractor from a Super H to a 484 diesel. We still have it and use it often- it's a handy little bugger. If you were gonna be doing any kind of "all day" work on it, sitting down between those fenders with all the heat circulating around you would make ya wish for a taller row-crop(like the H), but for a light-duty chore tractor with a small loader it'd be hard to beat the 484. Problems we've had with ours, which are minimal considering the use it's had, outside of normal things like mufflers, tires, etc., include the shift linkage(worn a bit and some pins have fallen out- easy fix), replaced the clutch once since '81 or so, and also the fuel tank's had some problems. It's in the rear and kinda goes up over the rear part of the tractor, with two deeper parts, each with their own pickup, on each side. Occasionally rust or crud will plug one of the pickup tubes and you'll "run out of fuel" before it's really empty. We put an inline filter on to help keep that crud outta the main filters and the injector pump, just gotta replace it every now and then. All in all, they're a good reliable little tractor. If the one you're looking at is in good shape, it'll give you years of service yet.
