I recently put new bearings and bushings and seals in my super a. If you have to remove the front axle it is a pain. I have removed it without taking the radiator off. Not sure if the a is the same.I took grill, hood off and took the fan shroud out so i could remove the U bolt on the front . I had the tractor supported with a 2o ton bottle jack and chain hoist. I then removed the steering arm and pivot pin and slid the front axle out from under it with a floor jack. just rolled it back under when the time came.it is heavy so dont take it off the jack if you do it this way. There are 6 bolts that hold the bottom of the steering housing, thats all there is to that. I did not remove the top housing on mine.I put some gasket sealer on mine when i reassembled. first time the gasket did not seal and gear oil oozed out. I used some stp and no smoke and 90 wt gear oil in mine.no leaks yet.i did grease the top bearing. Not sure where your crack is and how far you need to tear it down. others may have a better method.
