If it overheats, it is probably a plugged up radiator. The Cub, and other early tractors used thermo siphon cooling flow. The principle is that hot coolant expands and rises (in the block/head) and flows to the top of the radiator where it displaces cooler coolant which sinks down into the bottom of the block. It is not sophisticated, but there are no mechanical pumps. Crud and sediment/corrosion block the passages in the radiator, and/or junk builds up in the block. Drain the coolant. Use a hot water garden hose to push water backward through the system (radiator and block) and out the block drain and bottom hose attachments. Then use a good system flush product, and follow the directions. Check all hoses for internal breaks and replace as needed. Make sure the ignition point gap and (then) timing are correct, they can contribute to heating. JimN
