i've loaded a lot of silage with a 656 gear drive. the tractor had around 11000 hours when the tach stopped working. the shifter started bothering around 9000 hours, and it would end up in 2 gears. parts are available to repair or rebuild (i did both eventually). i have the 282 diesel in a 560. it starts well as long as the glow plugs work, but you always have to use them. just let it cool off after hard use before you shut it off. my point is, with 42 acres, the 656 should be able to do everything you would need done.
