It's a D-239. 239 cubic inches, built at IH's factory in Neuss, Germany. It's the 4-cylinder version of the D-358 used in many 90 horsepower IH's. The 55 horsepower 544 was the first U.S. built tractor to use the D-239, in 1968. It was used extensively in the British built utility tractors. Case-IH was still building it up until about 8-10 years ago.
