It takes 1.25hp to generate 1000 watts, that is with a generator don,t know about alternators. My generator is 27000 watts.Don,t have any idea what my total place load is.I use my M because of the govenor stability. When the well pump kicks on when the wife turns on the electric stove and the AC is on the M govenor will maintain 60cycles and keep the voltage in the green,The H and SH are to small, the 460 works great but the fuel costs will break you. For the Deere people, I hooked a G on it once and under load you could watch it fire in the incadesant light bulbs,
