Just a couple questions regarding a Farmall 400G serial numbers. What does the "S" signify after the serial number lcated the on the right side clutch houisng? The full serial number, as best as I can tell, is "5539 S". The serial number seems to indicate the tractor was built in 1955 (reference "International Harvester Tractor" by Robert N. Pripps). Also, there are a series of numbers on the front right side of the engine. Aft of the firing order are the numbers 356980R1. What does it indicate? Just below that number is the engine type, C-264. A second number series is located on the right side of the engine just above the distributor. I can not make it out. Can anyone advise its purpose? Is it related to the tractor serial number (i.e., same number...)? Sorry for the general questions. Hopefully I can address these types of questions after receiving Guy Fay's Farmall books (Farmall Letter Series, IH Tractor Data Book, and IH Experimental and Prototype Tractors). Thanks in advance.
