Your assesments on the SMTA values are pretty darn close I think. I still see a lot of them come up for sale here in Southern WI, and I can tell you this...straight out of the field with good tin is still going to cost you $2500. The best price I have ever seen an SMTA move for was $1400 a few years back (with a bad T/A), but that was still a steal in my opinion.

I don"t understand why the joy lever gets such a bad rap. When you replace a clutch, you rebuild the T/A, simple as that. Even in heavy useage the T/A is still a reliable unit...not to mention it"s benefits.
