Unless I mis-understand, Farmer Bob's solution is very, very close, but, as they say, no cee-gar. Counter rotating fans on one shaft will, indeed fix your thrust problems, but it also negates the flow of air. I could explain this, but the necessary technical terms would get me skilleted, so you'll just have to trust me. Whatcha gotta do is, ya gotta put one fan on the pto, and another on the crankshaft. Then, depending on crankshaft rotation, ya set the front one to blow back over the hood, and the one on the PTO to blow forward. This way, you still solve your net thrust problem, but the wind all flows over the drivers seat. You might want to have the front one rotating slightly faster, to ensure that dust from the implement doesn't become a problem. It'll save a bit of fuel too, but be careful at the ends of the rows, ya hafta brake a little harder or you'll eat the fence.
