Have you checked the plug wires to make sure they're in the correct firing order? You need to see whether the rotor turns CW or CCW. Then the plug wires should go in this firing order. 1-5-3-6-2-4 with No1 plug near the radiator. Most of these tractors the rotor rotates CW, but you need to make sure. Is this a 12 volt system using a ballast resistor between the ignition switch and the coil? The neg - post on the coil should go to the distributor if your battery is negative grounded. Post back.
