There is a mark on the flywheel for t.d.c. hard to see but if you have #1 on top compression the rotor will line up with the tower on the cap going to #1. I use a maglite to see in the spark plug hole when the piston is all the way up then you should be able to see the mark on the flywheel and mark it with whit4e chalk of something so the timing lite will show when the engine is running. Hardest thing is getting the inside capscrew loose to adjust the dist. You can do it by ear alsowhen engine is running.
