well said, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" I do what it takes to get a tractor running strong and leave it at that. If it means replacing the clutch I do it, if I must install new sleeves, I do it. New pto seals if leaking etc.. BUT, if a component works, by golly leave her alone and let it keep on working for ya! Though no matter what I put on all new electrical. That is the only caveat to my rule I suppose.
