IH used a white searler on cast iron parts to prevent oil seeping through the cast, which is quite possible. If the sheet metal was white, that's a different story- IH didn't really use a primer from the factory until about 1965. However, plenty of dealers used it for repaint. IH could and did paint tractors white for fleet customers or other customer order. I had heard previously that a utility company in Northern Indiana had used white tractors, and recently I saw several white tractors (M and a W-9) in a Northern Indiana junkyard that all looked like they had had buckets and other industrial stuff hung off them.
