I lived in an old farmhouse at the end of a quarter-mile crushed rock drive for a couple years. Drive was rougher than a cob when I moved there. I spent an hour or two with a home-made belly-mounted grader blade on My Cub Cadet garden tractor rearranging some loose rock & dirt and the drive was smooth as blacktop afterwards. It survived two years of articlulated 4WD tractors, over-loaded tandem axle trucks, 9500 JD combines, etc. As soon as it started getting a little rough again I'd touch up the rough spots. Once the washboards start they only get worse!
