Nice interesting posts. Be sure to keep the "keeper" on when the magnet is being transfered and always keep one on if you just use the magnet to pick things up. They will lose their magnetism without a keeper to complete the circuit. Not sure why cast would be better, but may be. I use a piece of low carbon 1020 mild steel. Also understand that storing several magnetos like the F4's side by side can demagnetize them. I built a recharger from Gingerly's plan and it sure does the job for me. Took a long time to build it, but the work was worth the effort. JIM in ILL.
