As far as the oil goes put in the 30 weight Low ash and be done with it the 10W"s are not ment for heavy duty applacation as these old engines are not made to the close tolarences as the newere stuff and the 10W30-40 are car - pickup oils and i know there are the guys that run to Wally world and buy it by the case and run it there tractors but it is not a HD motor oil plain and simple Heck i don"t even run that stuff in my owen pickup in the winter it get a 15W 40 and for summer it gets 20 W50 that was when i was running a gasser one ton pullen a 28 fooot gooseneck and after 287000 miles on that old 460 ford that was never run any harder then 7000 RPM and never hauled more the one 1066 and one 806 all at the same time from Ill to Ohio and the only time it got a chance to catch it"s breath was when i had to put gas in it and was running with the big boys at 75 -85 mph and if the idiots at Donnel ford would not have messed up the heads try to put new exhaust manifolds on it the heads would have never been off that engine as at a 105000 miles you could still see the cross hatch in the cylinder and the head mechanic asked me what type of oil i ran in it as they had never seen and engine so clean on the inside and just like my Cummins it get what Cummins says to run in it Shell Rotilla 15W40 the ford got 20W50 Castrol and believe me that ford got the bag run off it as in the spring running to the sales and bringing tractors and equipment home most weeks it had two oil changes per week as it was seen 6000 to 7000 a week in running So I H sayes to use the 30 weight then that is what they get .
